Embed FLASH effects into PowerPoint
Rick Turoczy has a tutorial on using Flash within PowerPoint. His FlashGeek site is a great general Flash resource as well.
On Geetesh Bajaj's Indezine site, you'll find PowerPoint and Flash and Inserting Flash within PowerPoint
The Flash Movie Wizard, part of Shyam's Toolbox, makes inserting Flash movies into PPT easier.
Shyam also has a free FlashBack add-in to rewind Flash movies in PowerPoint automatically.
Our friend Marcin Gos wrote to say:
Swiff Point Player allows you to simply insert Flash movies into presentations. My first tests look OK. The only disadvantage is that this player must be installed on other computers, but anyway, it really simplifies the process of integrating of Flash movies in Powerpoint.
But be cautious ... the Swiff Point Player can cause other problems with PowerPoint. See Double-clicking doesn't work before deciding to use it, and remember that unless it's installed on other computers, your Flash movies won't work.
In addition, with at least some combinations of PowerPoint / Shockwave / SwiffPoint Player versions, if there's a SwiffPoint player object on a slide, you can't properly embed a Shockwave object as well; the properties dialog box for the Shockwave object appears, but it's blank. Deleting SwiffPoint player objects from the slide solves the problem.
BitBetter (the ScreenBeans people) have posted a downloadable sample presentation
with Flash and instructions
And to repeat:
Any Flash solution that uses a "control" (aka ActiveX Control) requires the control to be installed on any computer that will play back the presentation. If the control is not installed, you'll see a message that says "Some controls on this presentation can't be activated. They might not be registered on this computer."
