What about Office 365 RT on Surface RT tablets?
Features that aren't available in the Office RT version of PowerPoint
- Macros, add-ins: Office RT lacks VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) support so you can't write, edit or run macros/VBA code. Versions of Office that support VBA cannot be installed on your RT device.
- Send as Attachment features: you cannot send your PowerPoint presentation as an email attachment from within PowerPoint (you can, however, open your email app, create an email message and add your saved presentation as an attachment).
- Send email links using the Broadcast Slide Show feature.
- OneNote email share options and email-related options in the Tools/Options menu.
- Synchronizing files between SkyDrive your local disk. Instead, use SkyDrive via Office Backstage view; open or save files from/to SkyDrive from there.
- Editing equations from PowerPoint 2003 and previous. You can view these but not edit them. You can still enter and edit equations using the newer tool provided.
- SharePoint Slide Library toolbar. Use the Slide Reuse pane instead.
- Some older media formats will not play or convert to video when inserted into PowerPoint RT. Use H.264 and Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) formats instead. To ensure that presentations created in non-RT versions of PowerPoint play in PowerPoint RT, use the Optimize for Compatibility feature of PowerPoint 2010 and 2013 (non-RT).
- Flash video: you can't insert or play videos from online sites that use Flash video.
- Recording Narrations
Can I use Office Home & Student 2013 RT for work?
You're not permitted to use it for commercial, nonprofit or any revenue-generating activities. However, Microsoft says:
However, organizations who purchase commercial use rights or have a commercial license to Office 2013 suites can use Office Home & Student 2013 RT for commercial, nonprofit, or revenue-generating activities.
You'll find more information directly from Microsoft here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-sg/home-and-student/office-home-student-rt-preview-FX103210361.aspx. The article is about the preview edition of Office RT, which was the only version available at the time of this writing.
We don't expect that licensing or features will have changed in the final released version, which should automatically be installed on your Surface RT device when it's released.
