PowerPoint won't print multiple copies

Problem

In the print dialog box, you ask for multiple copies of the slide or document you're printing, but only one copy prints.

The same thing may happen with Word, Excel, Internet Explorer and some other programs.

Solution

This is a known problem with some HP printer drivers. The following steps may solve it:

• Go to Control Panel | Devices & Printers
• Right-click the desired printer icon and select Properties.
• Go to the Device Settings tab.
• Change both Job Storage and Mopier Mode settings to Disabled.
• Click Apply then OK.
• Start PowerPoint and try printing multiple copies of a single page again. You may need to restart Windows before the change takes effect.

If this doesn't fix the problem, or if your printer driver doesn't have these settings, here are some other things to try:

• Some printer drivers have the option to send graphics as raster or vector. Whatever the setting is, change it to the other setting and try printing again.
• In the printer dialog, put a checkmark next to Collate and try printing again.
• In PowerPoint Options | Advanced | Printing section remove the checkmark next to Print in background

As a last resort, you can sometimes get multiple copies this way:

• Close the program you're printing from (if you don't, this trick won't work).
• Go to Control Panel | Devices & Printers.
• Right-click the printer you're using and choose Printing Preferences.
• Click the Advanced tab.
• Underneath Paper/Output set Copy Count to the number of copies you want.
• Click OK, then start PowerPoint and try printing again.

Don't forget to change Copy Count back to 1 after you've printed all the copies you need. Otherwise you'll get multiple copies of everything you print from any program.

Obviously, this isn't practical for the occasional "Two copies of this five-slide presentation" printout. It's far simpler just to hit the Print button a couple of times.
