Message: General failure with email system, action could not be completed
Problem
You choose the option to send your presentation as an E-mail and instead of sending the presentation, PowerPoint shows you a mesage like:
General failure with email system, action could not be completed
Send as E-mail option requires Outlook
The Send as E-mail feature in PowerPoint relies on Microsoft Outlook to work properly. If you don't have Outlook installed and set as your default e-mail program, you're likely to see this message.
You can still easliy send PowerPoint files by e-mail:
- Save your presentation to any convenient folder on your computer (My Documents or the Desktop are good choices)
- Close PowerPoint (this may not be necessary; you can try skipping this step if you like)
- Create an e-mail to your intended recipient just as you ordinarily would. It's a good idea to explain in the body of the email what the file is and why you're sending it to them.
- Attach the saved PowerPoint file to your email. How you do this will depend on which e-mail program you use; many of them use a paper-clip icon to represent this feature.
- Send the email.
