PowerPoint 2007 quits when I close my presentation
Problem
When you have only one presentation open, clicking the X (close) box in the upper right hand corner not only closes your presentation, it makes PowerPoint quit too.
What if you just want to close the presentation and continue working in PowerPoint?
Solution
You have several options:
- Click Office Button, Close instead of the X box.
- Teach yourself to press Ctrl+W or Ctrl+F4 to close the current document (these work in many other programs as well)
- Customize the Close button onto the QAT
- Click Office Button, PowerPoint Options, Advanced and remove the check next to Show all windows in the taskbar.
When you choose the last option, here's the part of the dialog box to look for:
After removing this checkmark, you'll no longer see each presentation on the Windows taskbar, but you'll see the old familiar TWO x/close buttons in the upper right. The lower one closes the current presentation, the upper one closes PPT.
