How can I open PowerPoint 2007 files in earlier PowerPoint versions
Problem
You receive a PowerPoint 2007 or later PPTX, PPSX or PPTM and can't view it because you have PowerPoint 2003 or earlier.
Solution
You can ask the file's author to resave the file in PowerPoint 97-2003 format, or you can download and install the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 file formats which will allow you to open the new Office 2007 file formats in PowerPoint, Word and Excel 2003 and 2002 (XP). If you use Office 2000, you'll be able to convert the new formats to compatible formats via a converter.
Important
Read the installation instructions carefully. Install all recommended updates before installing the compatibility pack or it may not work.
