Height and Width are blank in AutoFormat dialog box
Problem
You open the Formatting dialog box to adjust the size of a shape and find the the height and width boxes on the Size tab are blank.
Solution
You can usually enter the height and width you want and the shape will adjust accordingly.
If all newly drawn shapes have this problem, it's because the defaults have been set to resize the shape to fit text. To fix this:
Select a shape with this problem
Open the Formatting dialog box
Go to the Text Box tab
Remove the check next to "Resize AutoShape to fit text".
Go to the Colors and Lines tab
Put a check next to "Default for new ..."
Click OK
