Macro recorder toolbar disappears
Problem
You're recording a macro and accidentally click the macro recorder toolbar's close button (the X at the upper right of the toolbar) rather than the square Stop button. The toolbar disappears and you can't get it to come back.
Solution
Are you doomed to continue recording everything you do in PowerPoint from now on? To create The Macro That Ate Cincinnati?
No. Here's how you fix it:
- Make the Visual Basic toolbar visible if it isn't already there (choose View, Toolbars and put a check next to it)
- Use the toolbar to start recording another macro.
- NOW you can choose View, Toolbars and you'll see "Stop Recording" on the list of toolbars. Click it once to put a checkmark next to it and it'll be visible once again.
Problem
You upgraded to Office 2007 and can't find the macro recorder at all.
Solution
There is no solution, other than using an earlier version of Office. There's no longer a macro recorder in Office 2007.
There were no resources allocated to updating the recorder for 2007, so MS had to choose between shipping a woefully out of date, incomplete version or omitting it. They chose to omit it.
