White line appears at bottom of screen during slide show
Problem
While viewing a presentation in slide show mode, a white line appears at the bottom of the screen and extending the full width of the screen.
Solution
Courtesy of Villem Teder in the PowerPoint newsgroup:
If Task Bar properties has both "Always on top" and "Autohide" enabled, the white bar appears. In addition, the task bar appears when the mouse cursor lands on the white bar.
If either of these settings is de-selected, the problem disappears.
To change the taskbar settings:
- Right-click a blank area of the Task Bar and choose Properties from the pop-up menu
- If you use Windows XP: On the Taskbar tab, remove the check next to either "Autohide the task bar" or "Keep the taskbar on top of other windows". We'd recommend leaving the former checked, the latter unchecked.
- If you use Windows 2000 or earlier: On the General tab, remove the check next to either "Auto hide" or "Always on top". We'd recommend leaving the former checked, the latter unchecked.
- Click OK
