"R6025 - pure virtual function call" message when starting PowerPoint
Russel Smith ran into this problem and did some amazing detective work to solve the problem.
Other users have since reported that his procedure works for them as well.
Here's his report:
After installing Office 2000 SP3, starting PowerPoint resulted in the following error:
R6025 - pure virtual function call
Selectively disabling add-ins revealed that the SharePoint Portal Server client PowerPoint add-in was causing the problem (PKMOfficeAddIn.PwrPntUI.1). I disabled the add-in by setting LoadBehavior to zero in the following registry key:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\PowerPoint\Addins\PKMOfficeAddIn.PwrPntUI.1
I am running Windows 2000 SP3 and have the SPS SP1 client installed.
PkmOfice.dll is version 10.145.4629.0.
See this page on the Microsoft site for more information and a possible hotfix
