Mac: Can't import CIL files into Clip Gallery
The following applies to PowerPoint 98. I haven't tested it in Powerpoint 2001.
If it works for you there, please let me know so I can update this FAQ. Thanks.
Problem:
You have a clip library (CIL) file on your desktop or elsewhere on your system.
You start Clip Gallery and click Add Package.
You browse to where the CIL file is stored, but it doesn't appear in Clip Gallery's file list box, so you can't add it.
Solution:
Use File Typer or a similar utility that can set a file's Type and Creator information.
Use it to set the CIL file's info as:
Type: CGdb
Creator: MScg
(UPPER/lowercase is significant - enter it as shown above)
You should now be able to add the CIL file as a new clip package.
Depending on the version of PowerPoint you have, you may find that the CIL file appears under the "Clip
Gallery Live" file type rather than under the "Clip Gallery Package" when you import.
