Using the MS KnowledgeBase (MSKB)
MS has a wealth of technical information available over the web from their online Microsoft Support Knowledge Base (MSKB).
This KBUpdate page lists recent Knowledgebase articles by product, date and alphabetically
You can search for MSKB information at The Microsoft Support Knowledge Base site.
If you already know the number of the article you want, click "Show Options", then choose "Article ID" Type the Q-number into the box marked "Type your keywords or question here ..", then click Search Now. (Note: MS changes the layout and options occasionally, so what you see may not match this description exactly.)
Here are a few tips that'll make MSKB searches more productive:
Search Strings
- Use quotes around multiple words, e.g. "Microsoft acknowledges this to be" That way you'll get "hits" only on articles that contain the entire phrase, not on every article that contains every word in the phrase.
- Use AND For example, search for Links AND PowerPoint to restrict the search to articles that include both terms.
- Use NEAR For example, search for PowerPoint NEAR Links to narrow the search down to articles where both terms appear NEAR one another (ie, within a few words/sentences)
When doing keyword searches, don't use PPTXP to search for PowerPoint 2002 articles. Use PPT2002 instead.
